  • Can I have holes or cut-outs in the loveglass panels?

Yes. loveglass can be cut in many ways to allow for sockets, drill holes, cut out for cooker hoods as an example. The accuracy of these is vital because we cut prior to toughening and once toughened no changes can be made.

Cut-outs for electrical sockets or internal cut outs for anything else should generally be at least 50mm from the edge of the panel or from each other. If sockets are placed side by side the boxes must be placed so that the socket covers sit tight against one another. The sockets sit on top of the glass. Please ensure your electrician leaves plenty of wire so sockets can be fed through the glass.

  • Can you cut shaped pieces?

loveglass can be can be curved or shaped to accommodate cooker hoods, etc. Certain cuts outs are not practical such as 'L' or 'T' shapes as it will weaken the glass and increase the risk of breakage.
  • How safe is loveglass?

All our loveglass is toughened, 6mm thick with polished edges. Unfortunately we cannot supply toughened glass on pieces under 250mm but we then offer safety backing. Once on the wall and fixed the glass is very strong and hard wearing.
  • Can I fit loveglass myself?

We offer three types of service all of which can be measured and fitted by our experts if you require.

Our standard service supplying only regular four sided glass with no cut outs is quite simple but your measurements do have to be accurate.

Anything more complicated such as with our made to measure service we would advise you have to be a very competent DIY’er . The most difficult part of the process is the measuring and templating. These have to be very accurate as any measurements supplied would be at your own risk. Please remember the glass cannot be changed once toughened. If you are in any doubt we recommend that you take advantage of our templating and fitting service. If you are confident to measure and fit yourself we suggest you make a templates from 8mm MDF. If the templates fit, the glass will fit. We sometimes get it wrong at our cost so please be sure.

Or choose our Bespoke Service option, we do it all for you!

  • What condition should the wall be in that I intend to cover?

Ideally the flatter the better! No bows, twists or raised areas above 2-3mm. Any sharp areas need to be sanded.

Unevenness less than that depth can be taken up by the adhesive. All walls must be sealed using either PVA or emulsion paint.

Wiring must be chased into walls and any light fittings should be fitted allowing at least 10mm for the thickness of the glass.

  • Can I fit loveglass glass on top of my existing tiles?

It can be done but generally we don’t recommend this as we are not sure of the stability of the tiles.
  • What about heat resistance?

Our loveglass is heat resistant and will not crack behind the hob.
  • Do you supply upstands only?

Yes but we have a minimum charge which may make them look expensive. We do supply them as part of a bigger job.
